Media Needs Firearms Classes – More Propaganda From Iraq

I was reading my daily dose of Neptunus Lex when I found this story.

The Photo In Question

According to Blackfive and The Autonomist, the original caption for the photo read (the link has, mysteriously, gone dead):

An elderly Iraqi woman shows two bullets which she says hit her house following an early coalition forces raid in the predominantly Shiite Baghdad suburb of Sadr City. At least 175 people were slaughtered on Tuesday and more than 200 wounded when four suicide truck bombs targeted people from an ancient religious sect in northern Iraq, officials said.(AFP/Wissam al-Okaili)

Well, maybe. If rather than running out of bullets someone ran out of rifles and decided to throw their ammunition that could‘ve happened. But it’s pretty darned unlikely. Because, as anyone whose actually handled a weapon before (rather than merely editorialize about how inherently evil they are) would realize, those are unspent rounds. The bullets being the little tippy things atop the casing containing the powder and primer.

Gotta love reading Lex everyday. I never know quite what I’ll find, but I know there’ll be something good in there :) !

Today it’s the story of the woman who found bullets around her house in an embattled area of Iraq. She’s in Iraq – where there’s been fighting – and she found bullets  ?!?!

More than that is that she found bullets that hit her house! Only problem, as you can see, is that the ones she’s holding in the picture haven’t been fired :? . Well, that’s awefulling interesting, isn’t it  ?

Following the links in the story leads to further fun in the comments over at Blackfive’s post and at The Autonomist. It seems this same woman has shown up in other photos by the same guy in some other places…

Hat tip to Lex for the find :)
