Saturday was a very fun day   I managed to have the chance to shoot machine guns and suppressors twice in one month   This time it was Vegas Shooters who got together, but I’ll tell you both they and Nevada Shooters know how to have a good time

I don’t know who was responsible for placing this snow man at the turn off to the shooting site but whoever they are, they got a smile out of me   I must confess that I’m still a bit surprised the snow man wasn’t blown up with an exploding target.  Maybe next time…

Machine guns are not cheap to feed as a rule, but they’re easier if you can get surplus ammo for them   This Browning made quite a bit of noise!  Yes, those shell casings all came from this one gun.

By no means are the machine guns the only reason we head out to the desert!  These two .308 rifles are a lot of fun to shoot at much longer ranges than you’ll see us going for with the AR-15s, AK-47s, and submachine guns

As I said in my last post, I’ve decided to sell my PSL to raise funds for an AR-15.  It’s not that I don’t love this gun because I really do!  The PSL is sleek, sexy, and rather intimidating and I like all of that.  But I’ve decided to get the AR-15 for the reasons that it’s about as cheap to feed as the PSL is with surplus ammo, I can quickly convert the AR from 5.56mm to .22 LR for inexpensive practice, and the AR is much lighter and more portable.  On top of that, magazines for the AR can be had for much less cost than PSL magazines and I can get ammo for the AR-15 at Wal Mart, Bass Pro, or just about anywhere.  The PSL’s 7.62x54R rounds can be had in plenty of places, but unless you know where to get surplus ammo (and that’s assuming it’s available), you’ll pay about $.75 to $1.00 per round.

One of the guys brought out this bowling ball mortar and it’s a real hoot!  Not even using close to maximum powder charges, the balls were landing about350 yards away and getting quite a bit of altitude

You didn’t think I was going to leave you without some scenic panoramas, did you?  No, it was much too beautiful for me to leave these out of this post   It sure does get dark quickly this time of year, but at least we’re not baking on the rocks

Last, but definitely not least we have something I’ve been promising for the longest time – VIDEO   Yes, I’m in this one with some pretty interesting firearms   I really can’t thank everyone enough for making Saturday a truly spectacular and fun time
