I’ve had a few minutes here and there with a computer and thought I’d try to post some new pics and events from the time since I’ve moved up here to central Utah   I’m looking for a job, worried about many expenses, and I’ve just moved into a house with Cindy.  I haven’t taken many long rides, but I managed to go for one by accident not long after I rode up from Las Vegas

So, I’d wanted to see how my bike would handle dirt roads for a while.  There’s plenty of dirt roads out here in Utah and lots to see from them.  Long time readers may recognize the scene above from earlier trips   I know the caption says the V-Star is a misunderstood dirtbike, but I kinda lied on that one – it will do dirt roads but you do have to go really slow

I had developed a bit of a cold and cough the morning I left for this ride, but was feeling better so I figured I’d head out and see what dirt roads I could travel down and test the bike on.  I figured the Wedge Overlook was pretty close, why not go there?

I took this picture partly because of the lighting and partly because you can see the road.  The dirt roads on the San Rafael Swell are all pretty well maintained, but there can be sections of washboard and sand.  Just take it easy

I had never heard about these tunnels, but I think I’m going to go back sometime   Click on the pic of the sign for full size and to be able to read the info on it

The rock art at the Buckhorn Draw is very well known, but I didn’t see too many pics online so I figured I’d share what I could

The Swinging Bridge is pretty close to the Buckhorn Draw and I figured why not head down there as well?  The road and modern bridge have bypassed the old bridge and the approaches to the old one were pretty steep, but I made it!  I thought these came out pretty well, too

The clouds were moving in and I didn’t want to see what my bike is like in mud, so I high tailed it heading south instead of back the way I’d come.  Heading south was only about 35 miles of dirt roads to reach I-70 a ways west of Green River, UT, but I didn’t think it would seem that far.  I was wrong.  It felt like 100 miles.  But I did make it!

  These last pics were taken on Highway 6 between Green River and Wellington, UT.  I don’t know if it rained where I’d been riding, but I’m glad I took the route that I did   I learned quite a bit and had a pretty good day
