26 April 2013 – Scooter Update – New Data Plate & Kick Start Works!!!
Do you have a vehicle that was made in China? Did you pay less than $100 for it? Did you put some work into your vehicle and are you curious as to what the next problem will be? Are you brave/dumb enough to operate said vehicle in traffic?
Yeah, that’s a pretty good description of your truly lately
I’ve actually had this decal for a while, but couldn’t figure out where to put it on the V-Star. I figure it really fits in with the scooter what with its Chinese origin and the notion in the Firefly universe that the U.S. and China had settled their differences.
In other scooter related news, I ordered several different things which all showed up. I ordered up a new clear face shield for my helmet along with an anti-fog Pinlock insert as my previous clear shield went bye bye with a saddle bag and my smoke shield got seriously scratched. I’m happy to say that I can now see while riding even if it’s night! Also, the kick start works
Last, but not least, I ordered up a new bushing for the shaft of the kick starter and IT WORKS!!!
I don’t think I’ve told this story but a while back before I bought the new battery (yes, I finally did it – the old one was really toast), I was heading home from work for lunch. I barely managed to get the scooter started with the electric starter (the kick start was inoperative at the time), but it got running so I headed toward home. Then the ground wire for the ignition coil fell off. Again. Yes, the engine died. And no, it wouldn’t start no matter what. I ended up pushing my scooter a bit over a mile home.
The kicker on this scooter isn’t the greatest, but it does work with the new parts. That gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling
That’s all for now, but here’s hoping everyone has a great day
