4 July 2013 – Voyages on Two Wheels & Adventures With Ember
Well, that was a very tiring, but (mostly) fun day
I started Independence Day with the goal of playing with my daughter, going shooting, going for a ride, and playing with pyrotechnics. Somehow all of those goals were accomplished over the course of the day
Cindy, Ember, and I started the day by picking up Cindy’s mom and heading down to Huntington, UT for their celebration. We had a pretty good time and I took these pics while we were waiting for Cindy to get some Navajo tacos. It turns out there was only one guy in the cart making them and he was “slower than cold tar” according to Cindy who decided that she didn’t really want to wait that long in line. We left and found a different restaurant which had nearly as slow of service, but at least we were in air conditioning
After we’d gotten Cindy’s mom home and things settled down just a bit, I grabbed my guns and headed to an outdoor range for the first time in what seems like forever I still have six guns and a decent stock of ammo, but I hate to shoot what I can’t replace. Thankfully, I managed to find some affordable 9mm and .22 LR at Walmart not too long ago I’m a bit rusty, but not too bad and I had a blast
I only brought five guns this time – the ones you see above, my grandpa’s Marlin Model 60, and my Maverick 88 shotgun. I didn’t have too much time and didn’t want to go though too much ammo, so I left my other Marlin back at home.
After going home and dropping off my guns, ammo, and targets, I traded the car for the motorcycle and went to dinner with Cindy, Ember, Cindy’s mom, and her grandma. Dinner went well, but I realized that $15 was missing from my pocket. I decided to backtrack & didn’t find it, so I double checked up at the shooting range…
Yeah, I had the V-Star back out on the dirt again This is the road to the range and it’s the most rutted dirt I’ve ever tried to navigate on my motorcycle, but it went just fine I didn’t find my money, but I didn’t crash either
By the way, I have to send a special thanks out to Bill “Pinch” Paisley who did a great job making my last picture much better than it was! Be sure to head over to instapinch.com for some seriously cool photography
Independence day finished out with some cool fireworks in the street out in front of our house. I think Ember liked the pretty colors and lights
Well, that’s it for now. I’ll be back soon with more pics of who knows what, but you can bet there will be more stuff about Ember!
Have a great day everyone
