Terrorist Suspects Arrested Sneaking Into U.S. Highlight Need For Better Border Security

Stop The ACLU » Blog Archive » Texas Homeland Security Chief: ‘Terrorists Crossed Border’ — MSM Ignores News

Shouldn’t such a report be running through the MSM like wildfire? Yet, the MSM seems to be ignoring this explosive report with only local Texas news sources and a few Jihad watchers, and bloggers having picked up the Director’s statements.

Terrorism arrests made on Texas border – Insurgents connected to Hezbollah, Hamas, al-Qaida detained

“Has there ever been anyone linked to terrorism arrested?” Texas Homeland Security Director Steve McCraw said in a speech to the North Texas Crime Commission. “Yes, there was.”

McCraw also said that since March 2006, 347 people from what he called “terrorism-related countries” have been arrested crossing the border in Texas. The number of Iraqis captured at the border has tripled since last year, he said.

I knew I wasn’t the only one concerned about this. Contrary to what many people say, not everyone coming across the southern U.S. border is just looking for a job. I’ve known about the repeat criminals from Dad and his time on the California Highway Patrol, but I’ve always been concerned about people with specific harmful intentions coming across the border.

Let me tell you about crossing the border legally as a U.S. citizen returning from shopping in Mexico. Many in the U.S. have come to know what to expect at airports. If they don’t like what they see, they’ll search you in ways that require surgical gloves and lubricant  . All of your possessions that you bring with you are x-rayed. There are metal detectors. Not at the border.

Aside from having to show a driver’s license (soon to be a passport), the guy behind the counter asks what you were doing in Mexico, asks what you have to declare, and that’s about it. When I went down to Tijuana last time with Cindy, we told the truth about what we were bringing back – tequila and local crafts. All of this was wrapped in paper and carried in black plastic bags. None of it was searched. There were no metal detectors. Total time spent on us was probably about two minutes. Just think about what could have been brought back.

Having lived in San Diego for most of my life, I can tell you that it’s truly amazing and for those not familiar with the situation, the number of people flooding across the border is truly unbelievable. What’s truly freaking unbelievable to me is that we pick these people up, they go before a judge, sign a promise to appear in court for a hearing on their status, and are then RELEASED.

Border Patrol agents are attacked and nearly run over, only to be penalized for attempting to apprehend the person who committed an attempted murder of a federal law enforcement agent. Don’t believe me? Hit up Google. Search the Border Patrol agents’ union website.

All of this when we know that those who wish us harm are trying to come in with those who wish for a better life. Knowing how many people make it across the border into the U.S. without being caught, how many enemies do you think have made it here already?

Mr. McCraw said it much better than I could:

A porous border without question is a national security threat.
