Picture A Day – 25 June 2009
By Parrothead Jeff, on 26 June 2009
I saw this the other day at Cost Plus World Market and I immediately thought of Wirecutter. Wirecutter writes a (mostly NOT SAFE FOR WORK) blog known as KNUCKLEDRAGGIN MY LIFE AWAY. Fair warning, it’s not for children, those who might be easily offended, those who don’t have a sufficiently twisted sense of humor, or those who have a thin skin.
I like it
A recurring theme over at KNUCKLEDRAGGIN is bacon. Bacon lip balm, bacon vodka, wild turkey and bacon sandwich, even a couple of bacon recipes. Of course, it’s not all bacon – there’s plenty of girls, guns, and anti-Obama stuff too
Yeah, you know I like it

25 June 2009 - Chocolate and BACON!!!
From the box we read:
BACON+CHOCOLATE?
I becan experimenting with bacon+chocolate at the tender age of 6, while eating chocolate chip pancakes drenched in Aunt Jemima® syrup, as children often do. Beside my chocolate-laden cakes lay 3 strips of sizzlin’ bacon, just barely touching a sweet pool of maple syrup. And then, the magic – just a bite of the bacon was too salty and I yearned for the sweet kiss of chocolate and syrup, so I combined the two. This was a turning point: on that plate something magical happened, the beginnings of a combination so etherial and delicious that it would haunt my thoughts until I found the medium to express it – chocolate.
From there, it was just a matter of time… and what began as a love of salt and sweet quickly unraveled into an obsession. No longer could I wait to unveil the royal coupling in solid bar form, a deep milk chocolate with bits and pieces of applewood smoked bacon and just a sprinkling of Alder salt. Really, what doesn’t taste better than bacon?
Peace, love, and chocolate, Katrina
Now, I know everyone but Wirecutter is probably thinking that this just is not right. I tried some a few minutes ago and was very pleasantly surprised – it really is good
I didn’t expect much, but the apple wood smoke flavoring of the bacon actually complements the dark chocolate very well
This one’s for you, Wirecutter

Well, it could probably be good. Maybe. I guess. Okay, yeah, when you think about it.
(You need to come up with smiley face rating chart.)
I give this 2 smiley faces.
Kath,
You need to try it to know just how good it really is
And I love World Market. We don’t have one exactly by me, but I’ve been to one in Virginia, it’s not that far. I keep hoping we’ll get one right exactly here. Meanwhile I make do with Pier One.
Pier One isn’t bad, but I do love having Cost Plus just across the freeway
