Nope, no staged gear pictures today.  I hope these are a bit better than what I’ve posted lately

Before I get into the pictures, a few words about today after work.

I decided to go get a multi tool that didn’t suck.  After a bit of web based research, I headed down to Dick’s Sporting Goods.  Once there, I found that they did indeed have the Gerber Clutch in stock along with something else I was looking for.  I also found a new level of disappointment.  You see, the prices in the store are higher than on the website.  And no, they wouldn’t budge.

When I told the salesman clerk product organizer that the company he works for shows up at just lost a customer and turned to walk away, the (expletive deleted) cheerfully and sarcastically said, “Have a nice day!”  I managed to keep my emotions mostly in check.  All I said was, “Whatever.”  At which point the oxygen thief actually laughed at me.  I continued walking.

One of the guys at the cash wrap confirmed that Dick’s (what an ironically appropriate name) does not honor web prices in the store and said something about shipping charges bringing prices even.  I just walked away after thinking that it would be useless to mention the gas I’d just spent to get to the store.

While I wish only well to most of the employees, I sincerely hope that the Dick’s Sporting Goods chain goes down the toilet.

Dick’s Sporting Goods is located at the Galleria Mall.  Thankfully, my trip there was not entirely wasted.  I don’t know why these two cars were in that parking lot, but it sure was nice to see some steel and chrome out in public for a change

9 July 2009 - Guys know they want it!

Bass Pro Shops is a place I will happily spend my money.  When I had been told that they would not order a certain type of ammo, I wrote the company an email.  Rather than blowing me off or sending a form response, they actually looked into the matter and CALLED ME.

My one minor annoyance with Bass Pro was that they would not carry AR-15s and other similar rifles because they’re too military in nature.  Happily, this has changed somewhat as they consider an AR-15 without a traditional front sight but instead with a scope rail to be a sporting rifle as I’ve always contended.  No, I can’t afford the $1,200 price tag.  It’s the thought that counts
