Picture(s) A Day – 18 July 2009So, how’s the weather today in Las Vegas? Well, it’s hot, it’s wet (by our standards), and I’m thankful for air conditioning. They weren’t here yet, but you can see the thunderstorms in this picture. It’s official – the monsoon season is here. As you can see, when it rains here it usually pours. Lots of runoff coming through the parking lot. I figured I’d get the car rinsed off and go out for a soda. Yes, it was 104° and raining hard with some thunder to boot. After I went through the gate, I was fiddling with my camera and didn’t pay attention to how long I was there. I didn’t know that the gate could close on my bumper. I’ll be emailing pictures to the complex management, but I don’t know if they’ll do anything about it. Really, I’m not too broken up about it – stuff like this happens. It can happen in a parking lot. It can happen anywhere. Nobody wanted it to happen. On my way back from grabbing that soda I just thought this was a pretty cool picture Last, but certainly not least, I figured I’d try to show what it looks and sounds like around here, at least when there’s weather like this. Most of the noise is actually from the rain on the sun shades over the assigned parking. This video was taken at about 1550 hours. Have a great day everyone 4 comments to Picture(s) A Day – 18 July 2009 |

Hey, rain!! We might be getting some this week, who knows? Looks like you had quite a good storm. The rain video was nice, too.
I am a bit surprised at the gate, tho. I mean, you obviously are supposed to get out of the way, but I didn’t think it would actually clunk on you.
Thanks! Yep, the rain was nice. We may get some more today
The gate really surprised me, too. Not happy about that, but whatchagonnado?
I hope the car is ok, and I hope you didn’t get flooded out.
Thanks!
The car will be fine and no flooding. They plan pretty good for water like that around here
