Last Post of the Day – One of My Dreams…
I’ve had a taste of the liveaboard and “boat scum” lifestyle and culture. And somehow that became a part of me. It’s something I really miss. Staying over so many nights on Adrienne’s sailboat with the gentle bobbing, the sound of the surf in the distance, and the smell of the cool salt air – it really does get into your blood. Yes, it is true that a boat is merely a hole in the water into which money is thrown. Somehow, I really can’t bring myself to actually care about that. I just keep thinking about how $40,000 or so would buy one big ticket to freedom… Even if you don’t take the boat out very often, there’s still the tangible possibility of literally sailing off into the sunset at the drop of a hat. OK, maybe not quite – gotta have supplies and all – but the possibility is real nonetheless. I don’t want all that much. No 350 foot megayacht. No, I just want something between 40 and 50 feet that can be sailed solo to whereever I choose to point the bow. I figure a good way to cap this post off would be with a Jimmy Buffett concert Fair seas and following winds everyone 4 comments to Last Post of the Day – One of My Dreams… |

Nice boat — oh, wow, and a Buffet song — I am shocked. ;)
Would have thought you WOULD want a bigger boat, just to fit the plane on it.
Kath,
Huge boats are great, but they’re hard to sail by yourself
And I can still have a plane like this one
That is too funny! No, that does NOT count as a plane.
So you mean you don’t want to go flying in it
?
Don’t get me wrong – I’d love a retired aircraft carrier
They’re just so darn expensive
