So, You Don’t Think This is America Anymore?
That’s sure one heck of a sign. I’d say it’s pretty powerful. It probably even offends a decent number of people. Sounds like it and someone displaying it at a protest should be protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America, right? You’d think that a police officer who by his own words has sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution would protect someone who’s chosen to exercise his God given rights as recognized by the First Amendment, right? The First Amendment was meant to protect offensive speech as popular speech doesn’t need protection. Surely, he values his oath and understands the Constitution, right?
WARNING!!! THE FOLLOWING MATERIAL MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO THE MENTAL HEALTH OF ANYONE WHO VALUES FREEDOM AND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!
Before we go any further, I’d advise you to make sure you’re not drinking anything, that you’re in a stable chair with a good desk in front of you, and that you take appropriate precautionary measures such as having a bottle of Pepto and an air sickness bag handy and wrapping your head securely with duct tape (two rolls should just about do it) to keep it from exploding. I’ll wait…
OK, so you’ve taken the proper precautions and you’re ready to see this, right? Are you sure about that? OK, here goes… Click on the video below and we’ll get started. Turn up the sound and be prepared to watch this clip several times. You may not believe what you’re about to witness.
From the YouTube description:
Yes, you just watched an officer of the law who has sworn to uphold the Constitution trampling on the civil rights of a United States Citizen during a political protest. Your ears did not deceive you. He actually told somebody that he would cite a protester for trespass if he continued to display his sign. When the protester pointed to other signs that the officer was ignoring, the officer said that this protester’s sign was unacceptable “because it has a picture on it.”
Further more, the officer says that if he tells the protester to take down the sign and the protester defies him, that “I can charge you with whatever I want to charge you with, OK?”
The most disturbing exchange comes at the end:
I’ve got news for Officer Cheeks. THIS IS STILL AMERICA!!! The Constitution is still the Supreme Law of the Land!
Furthermore, Officer Cheeks, there are still real Patriots out there who actually care about the Constitution and the Oath they took to defend it. I’d invite you to go read the post and comments regarding your starring role in the above video at Oathkeepers.org. Those comments aren’t coming from some paid political hack. They’re coming from people who should be your peers.
I sent an email to the Fairfax County Police Department’s internal Affairs Bureau.

Please note that while I’m strongly against this health care “reform,” I respect the right of anyone to express their opinion. This isn’t about the “reform” debate. It’s about Constitutional Civil Rights. If they’d disallowed all signs, I’d be annoyed. The trouble is that the discrimination and oppression was based on the content of the sign rather than the sign’s existence. I’m all for anyone who likes the plan explaining why they like it. They’re free to disagree and I’d probably buy ‘em a drink and talk it over with ‘em if they could remain civil about it.
Please pardon the language, but I can’t figure out how else to properly say that shit like Officer Cheeks’ conduct will not stand. Not on my watch. I’ll blog about it if I can’t be there, but if I’m at a location and this kind of bullshit happens, I’ll make sure that I post the video and spread the message and the manure far and wide.
Something that’s probably lost on people like Officer Cheeks, Nancy Pelosi (who called protesters Nazis), and the rest of the politicians and officials who’ve derided the protesters is that a great majority see their derision for what it is. It’s BULLSHIT. Present your side of the argument, fine. But don’t attack those who disagree with you in any way that you would not want to be attacked yourself, especially when it is easily recognizable BULLSHIT. Any idea why? You’re not farmers or ranchers, so I wouldn’t really expect you to grasp the concept of manure as fertilizer. Dad grew up on ranches in Arizona, so at least some of his knowledge got passed down to me which included this point. Where am I going with this? Well, you probably don’t have a clue in the least that by spreading so much BULLSHIT, you’re actually spreading fertilizer on your opposition. You’re promoting its growth and giving it strength.
To those spreading this BULLSHIT, I have to ask a question. You do have some idea about who that opposition is, right? I mean you’ve probably figured out that I’m not on board with the whole plan by now, but I’m by far not the only one who opposes you on your “reform,” your derision of anyone whose opinion differs from yours, and your denial of Civil Rights to United States Citizens.
I mentioned the Oath Keepers a while back. You really should check out their site. Make sure you see who makes up the ranks of the Oath Keepers. These are current active duty, reserve, and retired members of the military, firefighters, police officers, elected officials, and even civilians who’ve sworn an oath to uphold, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies both foreign and domestic. For them it’s a matter of conscience and deep importance. I may not have served in the military or law enforcement, but even as a civilian I stand with them.
Another group you might not have noticed is the Three Percenters. While the Three Percenters aren’t actually organized, there’s more than a bit of overlap between the ranks of the Three Percenters and the Oath Keepers. Head on over to Mike Vanderboegh’s place for more information on the Three Percenters. I’ll proudly stand with the Three Percenters as well.
So what’s the whole point of this post? Simple, really. I personally will not stand by in silence and the implied consent which that silence would imply and I’m by far not the only one who feels this way. I will do all that I can to ensure that the United States of America is a great nation.
I hope my readers feel the same way.
