TOP GUN – THE SLOT MACHINE!!!It was 07/07/07 so my roommate and I decided to go out and have some fun gambling. After all, how many people paid thousands of dollars for airfare and hotel rooms? I’m already here, so I figured I’d enjoy my location – Vegas style. We decided to leave the Strip to the hordes of tourists and patronize one of the local casinos instead. After breaking a few bills, we set forth amid the banks of machines in search of something worth playing. We found it shortly thereafter. Yep, just as I blogged from my cellphone earlier, there’s a new slot machine in town. One that draws a crowd. People stand in line to play it. It’s TOP GUN – the slot machine!
We will not go anywhere near discussing how much $$$ I spent flying this F-14. OK, I’ll say that it was much less than it would cost to buy the real jet or even to pay for the gas to start one up. Think low end of double digits. I’m just thankful I have enough self control to know when to say when with this machine – and that it doesn’t take credit or debit cards! The machine is at its core just another slot machine – stuff spins on the screen and you wait to find out if you’ve won and how much. There are bonus rounds like many video slots. So what makes this one different? Aside from being connected to one of my favorite movies of all time (and yes, I know all too well just how much pure “Hollywood” was in it), there are a few new innovations to the game itself. There’s the surround sound for one – speakers in the chair along with the ones on the console are a new idea in slots and a great addition. Super bass and a chair shaker – feel it when you hit that bonus! Vastly improved graphics – very smooth! Last, but certainly not least, is the way the creators put together the TOP GUN bonus. Most bonus rounds are just pick something and see what you get. This one’s similar, but it’s more like a video game where you fly the jet and dogfight with the bad guys. Video clips from the movie are part of the game, but we never see Maverick – what’s up with that??? Probably the money and licensing… WMS Gaming has put together a pretty good web page for their newest creation – go have a look. It’s full of humor – check out the comparison between the game and a real F-14. They also have a great video of some of the action players can expect. Something tells me that Pinch and Lex might drop a few bucks on this next time they’re in Vegas. Of course, most of the membership of F-16.net probably will, too LOL! I give it a thums up for fun! WMS and the casinos have a definite winner. |
