Something from the past

Saw these puppies a few years ago.

First up. I stole this from the above named site. It has pictures of airplanes, helicopters and airports. It is one of my favourite sites to visit when I get a bit bored.

Fort Worth Alliance Airport is north of the city next to I-35W and that funny race track with no right turns. A few years ago, I was dumping my rock train on the Fort Worth Subdivision of the BNSF. The line is to the west of the field. There is also a huge intermodal yard at Alliance. These were part of the former Varig of Brazil’s fleet. They went under for whatever reason. They were parked at American Airlines Maintenance Facility at Alliance for new paint and servicing. They were visible from both the tracks and the interstate. We had to hold at a signal for other traffic right next to the airport one day. And I got on the train without my camera. Because one of those 777s had been masked off in AA colours! It was one of the Pink Ribbon Jets!!!!!!! And I missed it!!!!

Not bad, two of the those things that are such a large part of my life. Planes, Trains, the other being Automobiles. But Planes and Trains have precedence over automobiles.

I got this in my email today, and knowing the caliber of folks who hang out here, I thought I’d share it with y’all. You CAN delete it if it offends your sensibilities, can’t you???

WALK NAKED IN AMERICA DAY
Don’t forget to mark your calendars.

As you may already know, it is a sin for a Muslim male to see any woman other than his wife naked. He must commit suicide if he does. So next Saturday at 4 PM Eastern Time, all American women are asked to walk out of their house completely naked to help weed out any neighborhood terrorists. Circling your block for one hour is recommended for this anti-terrorist effort.

All patriotic American men are to position themselves in lawn chairs in front of their house to prove they are not Muslims and to demonstrate they think it’s not sinful to see nude women other than their wife and to show support for all American women.

Since Islam also does not approve of alcohol, a cold 6-pack at your side is further proof of your anti-Muslim sentiment. The American government (except BO) appreciates your efforts to root out terrorists and applauds your participation in this anti-terrorist activity.

God bless America !

It is your patriotic duty to pass this on. If you don’t send this to at least 5 people, you’re a terrorist-sympathizing, lily-livered coward and are in the position of posing as a national threat.

Another good one is http://www.airfighters.com. It has a section that has just boneyards. That part has some A-6′s in it that I probably worked on. Scary thought on that one!

At Fort Worth Alliance Airport, one can see some neat airplanes. It has the American Airlines facility and is a huge FedEx point. There are alot of purple and white heavies in and out plus all the high rollers in their jets. And when the Indy car and Nascar events are up the road, it is a really busy place. The Indy Car event is the Bombardier Learjet 500. Hmmmm? Learjet? Oh yeah! I used to work there. But the perspective is very different when viewed from the cab of an old SD40-2 locomotive hooked to a ballast train. You get to see airplanes with stands and support equipment attached and panels off and engines exposed.
