Support Request for Kerry

Remember when I wrote about Kerry – my high school girlfriend from South Africa?

Well, it seems times have been a bit tougher than usual for her lately. She’s a single mother with no support from the father and about 10 days ago she even lost her job because the jerk who was her supervisor didn’t think she’d amount to much being a single mother. Yeah, I was pretty disgusted, too.

I hope she got the text message I sent her, but I wanted to make sure she saw something from me and I know she’s been around here from time to time so I figured I’d post a big message telling her that I’m pulling for her in a huge way

I was reminded of this this morning when I read her post from today over on one of her blogs:

When shit goes South, as it so very often does… you tend to find out who really cares!!

I’ve got great friends! While most of them can’t help me pay my bills, they do offer job leads, support, kind words, mocking words (you know who you are…), and encourage me!!

I’ve applied for around 30 jobs in the 10 days I’ve been unemployed.
Crossing fingers that something turns up positive soonly…

Kerry, if you’re reading this, I know you’re impossibly busy and I can understand if you’ve not had time to respond. Still, you’ve got my support in any way possible – just let me know. Something tells me the rest of my readers are pulling for you as well

Kerry — May I be one of the ones to say — good luck, which totally sounds soooo lame.

But as much as I bitch about the thousand hours a week I work — and honestly, I love my job, it just takes all my time — I don’t know how well I would handle having to go find work right now. Most probably I would suck at it. Ok, maybe that’s a little harsh, but — no, I probably would.

So, I swear, my hand to God, I seriously hope you find a job SOON — AND that it’s something you even remotely want to do, like to do, might enjoy and that actually pays a dollar or two.

And if all of that is too much to ask for, then I just hope you get a job right away.

You’re most welcome You’re not the only one with long silences ya know Even if we don’t verbally talk on the phone, I still get text nudges and messages via Facebook, so I know you’re still there. I’ve said before that I’ll always be your friend and I stand by that

So no matter what, don’t think I’ve forgotten about you, don’t think about you, or will ever consider you anything but a wonderful, close friend

The Old Retired Petty Officer wants a piece of this scumbag. Bare Knuckles, Bare Feet and Stripped to the waist. And so you know Kerry, where I grew up, this is being civilized. We invented vigilance commitees.
My youngest daughter has been a single mother and has done quite well as one, I should add. And now she is mom to a total of five. It is a yours, mine and ours householdand the missus and I love them all equally.
So, here is the deal. Jeff knows how to contact me other than here. I have survived cancer on a kidney. The tumor was about half the size of the kidney. Guys like your supervisor are small potatoes to me. I will be able to make that individual crap in his or her skivvies and not lay a hand on them. All you have to do is ask. Jeff and Kath are my friends. And kc and swampwoman are there, also.
Besides, I haven’t administered a well deserved ass beating in a lot of years. As sick as this sounds, it might be fun.
And you are invited to the Santa Maria BBQ at this household next spring. Jeff knows about it. We are going to have Tri-Tip marinated in Raven Seasoning(Armona, CA) and Heiniken on the grill with beans,rolls and such and watch the sun set over the Tehachapi Mountains. The beers will be from the Pacific NW.
And may God grant me the wisdom and smarts to hide the evidence. Well except maybe for the scalp, that goes in place of honour outside the front door. My maker will understand at the appropriate time.
