Picture(s) A Day – 20 November 2009Yesterday was FINALLY FRIDAY Anywho, I headed out to grab a bite last night and managed to get a couple of (I think) decent pics while I was at it Cameras and computer monitors cannot do justice to things like this. What you see here was a cloud that looked almost like nothing, but it was illuminated by the setting sun and appeared to be nothing more than a dab of light that had been painted on the sky. It may not have been the most dramatic of sunsets, but I love the way the clouds hung over the mountains and the detail in their structure I didn’t go here for dinner last night, but I might do so tonight for a change of pace. I’m not the biggest fan of Long John Silver’s, but I’ll take an A&W rootbeer float and a hot dog or hamburger These two panoramas give a decent approximation of what I get ot see on a fairly regular basis Yesterday turned out to be a pretty decent day, all things considered. Have fun, everyone 6 comments to Picture(s) A Day – 20 November 2009 |

Yup. The best we can hope for is an approximation. We have some Big Sky in this part o’ the world (I don’t care what Montana sez; they don’t have sole ownership of the term) and usually have striking sunsets, as well. My favorite time of day, actually.
I have become fond of the sunrise here in the Mojave. I don’t know the name of the mountain range to the East but it is beautiful sight just before the sun comes up. Usually about the time I hit the North Gate at Edwards.
Buck, the best ones out near you are in that lonesome from Fort Sumner to Vaughn on highway 60. And out toward Encino and Pedernal.
Sunrise for me. Much rather be up early and see the sun come up, coffee in hand, than seeing the sun leaving the sky.
Buck, those of us ‘of a certain age’ from Montana don’t think of it as Big Sky Country, it is the Treasure State. ALL prairie and desert country has big sky. For that matter, so does ocean.
Anything’s better than city. Especially eastern city. Anything.
I figure somewhere around 1500 actual days at sea under the biggest sky. Nothing out there but the sea and the sky.
Had a rather pretty one this morning out here in the Mojave Desert.
