Picture(s) A Day – 1 December 2009 – Part I

Buckle up, everyone – my birthday was a long day and there’s lots of pictures :D   I debated waiting until tomorrow to get this post together, but seeing as how I didn’t take any pictures for the blog today, I figured it was only proper that I make up for it by at least getting caught up to yesterday

1 December 2009 - Dessert at Margaritaville - Key lime pie :)

Mom and I went to Margaritaville for breakfast, but they’d cut that off early.  We stayed and ate an early lunch anyway – Mom had a taco salad, I had a Cheeseburger in Paradise, and we shared the conch fritters (a great appetizer) and the key lime pie :)   The pie was garnished with a slice of key lime and a sprig of mint and was served on a plate decorated with raspberry and mango syrup.  I could get both very used to and very fat by eating this way more often :P

Our next stop (and the location for the majority of the pictures in this post) was The Auto Collections at the Imperial Palace.  My brother and I have been coming here for 12 years now (my how time flies!) and it’s always a good place to visit as the cars change on a somewhat regular basis.  Sure, there’s a few that are on pretty much permanent display, but most of ‘em are for sale.  If I ever win the Megabucks slot jackpot, this is going to be one of my first stops

There really are a whole bunch of pictures and I can’t remember just what all the cars are, so I’m not going to comment on each picture.  If you have any questions, just leave them in the comments and I’ll try to answer them

Along with a few Corvettes, my late uncle Chuck also had a car exactly like this one according to my brother :)

I got Dad in here a couple of years ago and he told me that my great grandfather on his side likely drank at this very bar.  You see, Great Grandpa was a cowboy driving cattle up the Chisholm Trail and was known to have spent time in Dodge City

This 1955 Corvette is interesting because it still looks mostly like the original 1953 Corvettes and it was the first year that a V8 was offered in a Corvette.  Prior to this, the only engine available was a Blue Flame inline six cylinder mated to a two speed Powerglide automatic transmission.

I’d love to have this car :D   It’s funky looking, rare, and even affordable!  Of course, parts wouldn’t be the easiest to locate…

You’ve got to love this odd little Morgan three wheeler with its V twin engine mounted in the front and the single wheel in the back 8)  I’ve seen these raced in vintage competition and they’re pretty quick and nimble, often going up on two wheels in the fast corners.

You’ll often find cars at The Auto Collections which were used in show business at some time.  This was used on CSI :)

My Camaro was a 1988 and didn’t have the 1LE package, but I loved it and wish I still had a car with T-Tops 8)

Due to the large number of pictures, I’ve had to split this post into two parts.  Please leave your comments on the post which has the pictures if you’d be so kind – it helps to keep things organized

See ya on the other side :)

The car in the picture is painted Marina Blue and that’s the BEST color GM ever came up with. Period. The smart folks bought the L-79 Chevelles; in stock form the 327 was lighter, better handling, and quicker than the garden variety SS396 Chevelles, even the top o’ the line 375 hp version. It was also VERY rare… Chevy didn’t make many of ‘em and you had to wait a lifetime to get one… if’n ya could. I had a ’67 SS396 in Tahoe Turquoise… equipped with the 350 hp version of the rat motor (they came in three flavors: 325 hp, 350 hp, and 375 hp) and a Turbo-HydraMatic. It was still a damned fine car and one of perhaps three or four cars I well and truly wish I had back… ;)
