Wisdom From Rush Limbaugh – This Is No Longer A Representative Republic…

One of my favorite blogs on the Internet is Random Nuclear Strikes.  Aside from the awesome name, there’s some pretty darn good writing and thinking to be found on those web pages.  One of the things I saw there today that helped to confirm that no, I’m not the only one thinking this way was a post with a quote and related thoughts regarding part of Rush Limbaugh’s show today.

Here’s an excerpt from Rush – emphasis added is mine:

RUSH: Wait a second, let me step in here because I want to try to save you some mental energy. You’re looking at this the entire wrong way. They’re not listening to us. They have the polling data. You’re wasting your time e-mailing them. You’re wasting your time faxing them. You’re wasting your time calling them. This is no longer a representative republic. This is not a democracy. You’re nothing but a gnat. You’re an inconvenience, especially if you disagree with what they’re doing. You’re somebody to be gotten even with. You’re somebody whose mind isn’t right yet. You are somebody that they’re going to have to erase. They don’t want to have to deal with your opposition. This is why I’ve been saying for practically my entire broadcast career behind this microphone, the only way to understand this is to understand what liberalism is and who liberals are, radical leftists, and at that point you will understand how truly insignificant you are. They don’t matter to you. They’re not even thinking about what you want and don’t want. They’re not thinking about how they can best respond to public opinion here to prolong their careers or to do the best for the country.

I’ve been thinking this for a very long time.  It’s not about what’s good for the country anymore and I suspect that this has been the case for quite a while now.  I’m told that at one time there were both Republicans and Democrats who had different ideas, but those ideas were actually about what’s good for the country.  I can’t help but think those days are long gone now.  When Congress and the President shred the Constitution and ignore the Electorate – you know, We The People, the Citizens – as they’ve done so often recently, I know something’s rotten in the District of Columbia.  When Congress and the President also exempt themselves from that which they shove down our throats like parents giving a teenager castor oil for swearing, there’s no longer doubt in my mind.  They’re only in it for themselves.  All the rest is hot air and sweet lies to maintain their places of power.  WE THE PEOPLE WHO ELECT THEM HAVE NO SAY ANYMORE.

What a loathsome, foul, evil bunch of hypocrites.
