Continental United States - House of Representatives before the 2010 election

This is how the country looked after the 2008 election with regards to the House of Representatives.  Before yesterday’s election, Democrats held 258 seats, Republicans held 178, and there was one seat vacant.  I found both of these maps at Fox News in case you were wondering

And this is what that map has become after 2 November 2010.  Look at all that beautiful red   Tonight was a good start.  I’d have preferred a different outcome in some races but we’ve gotta take the bad with the good.  I don’t know about the rest of y’all out there, but just because a part of the map switches from blue to red doesn’t mean I can relax.  We need to make sure our Representatives do what We The People elected them to do and don’t get caught up in the whole D.C. experience.  Still, I like this much better than the alternative

Congratulations to everyone who fought hard in their election races as well as everyone who went to the polls and voted.  This is why no matter what some might say, the USA is still the greatest nation on Earth.  Enjoy today with its lack of political advertising and then get ready for 2012 starting tomorrow.  Let’s have an open, honest, and fair exchange of ideas and continue to LET FREEDOM RING !!!

I just posted something over on Facebook about Election Day that I thought I should post here as well.

So, today’s Election Day. I have my political preferences & while they may be different from yours or your friends’ views, I think I know one thing we can all agree to be overjoyed about tomorrow.
NO MORE POLITICAL ADS FOR A YEAR & A HALF!!!
That said, I’ll cast my ballot after work. Most everybody knows my views – I don’t exactly keep ‘em a secret ;-) If you agree with me, I’d ask for your support by voting today. If you don’t agree with me, now’s your chance to do something about it and vote your conscience.
Please get out and VOTE!!!

Time to do your civic duty, everyone

Do you think Congress spends too much money?  Would you like to have a more direct voice when it comes to cutting spending?  Republican Whip Eric Cantor has come out with a program called You Cut.  You can vote via text message on specific ideas via text message and you can also send in your own ideas on how to cut spending.  My suggestion (probably the first of many) was to consolidate federal law enforcement.  Did you know that the Department of Education has their own SWAT team and recently purchased 14″ barrel shotguns?  Why can’t the FBI do this work?

I personally recommend everyone go there and send in your suggestions.  Have at it.  But don’t stop there.  Keep your Representatives’ and Senators’ feet to the fire.  Send emails and letters.  Don’t stay silent.  Let your voice be heard.
