Corvette on Fire!!!

My friend's 1975 Stingray Roadster

I’ve got to say that I had a grand old time telling this story at the rehearsal dinner for the Corvette owner’s wedding.

So there I was, cruising along behind my friend’s 1975 Corvette Stingray roadster in my 1988 IROC Z/28. The Corvette’s top was down and the IROC’s T-tops were off as we cruised back towards Poway and Vista on the Northbound 163 just north of Kearney Mesa. Visions of the race cars we had just seen at the Chrysler Jeep Classic Speed Festival still danced in our heads. The air wasn’t too warm nor too cold, the sun was shining, and there was not a cloud in the sky.

SR-72 Contract Awarded???

Here we go again.

Anyone else remember the years before the F-117 Nighthawk was publicly revealed? I do. There were “fly-bys ” at all the airshows I went to by the then rumored “stealth fighter” where the sound of a jet flying by was played over the public address system while nothing was visible. I have the feeling we’ll see the same thing start to happen all over again.

Dennis Miller on Harry Reid – BRAVO!

I don’t think I could’ve said it better myself.

Harry, I’m one of your constituents. I agree with Dennis completely. Get a clue.

San Francisco Considers Banning Blue Angels

Yep, you read that right.

It’s all over the aviation community. I’ve seen references to this story all over the place.

It’s on Neptunus Lex. It’s on Aero-News.net. It’s on TurbineToucan.com. Twice.

It’s on The Examiner.

Now it’s on my blog.

County Supervisor Chris Daly says of the Blue Angels’ demonstration, “they seem dangerous and unnecessary.” Supervisor Daly is drafting a (thankfully) non-binding resolution opposing the Blue Angels’ demonstrations.

Found another one of my old blogs!

Yep, they keep turning up. This one was reviews and I never really kept it going. I’m moving the best two posts over to this blog and who knows – I might even post some more reviews.

Weekend Plans

Strange to see this now, but it’s now my Friday morning. Until my work gets things straightened out, my schedule will remain (in layman’s terms) Friday through Tuesday, 0900 to 1800. So THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY!!!

I’m still figuring out what exactly to do with my weekend – Wednesday and Thursday for most people. I don’t want to burn too much gas, but I don’t really want to be stuck in the apartment all weekend. I have some free movie tickets – maybe I’ll go see Pirates again (GREAT MOVIE). Maybe I’ll go through the Imperial Palace Auto Collection, or over to Symbolic Motors’ Las Vegas location (I miss going to the La Jolla location), or I could go geocaching more locally. Of course, I still have my fishing pole and license, so I might go fishing.

What really bites about this schedule is that there’s nobody else I know who has it.

Oh well, I’ll find something to do. It’s Vegas, right?

Airshow Season

Airshow season is already here around the country, but I’m looking forward to October and November. October is when Miramar and Edwards throw open the gates and put the hardware in the air and November is Nellis Time! Continue reading Airshow Season

BUFFETT CONCERT DATES FOR LAS VEGAS ANNOUNCED, TICKETS TO GO ON SALE ON MONDAY!!!

I just got an email yesterday from my friend who owns Captain’s Cove.

It’s official – Jimmy’s coming to Fabulous Las Vegas on two Saturdays in a row! Yep, October 20 and October 27 will see Jimmy at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and an invasion of Parrotheads rarely seen elsewhere.

That’s the good news.

The bad news? Cheap seats are $105.00 and anything not in the upper level is > $200.

All prices posted here exclude fees.

Oh well, just a bit more overtime should take care of that, right?

Aquaria and Fishkeeping

It all started innocently enough with a 1o gallon tank from Wal Mart…

There are now three tanks in our apartment. The 20 gallon is the community tank with many different species, the 5 gallon is the guppy and snail tank with a couple of algae eaters, a lone danio, and a kuhli loach, the 3 gallon tank is the betta tank with a couple of snails, some white clouds, and a kuhli loach as well.

So let’s see if I can remember who all is in the 20 gallon right now…
