Blogging has been spotty lately, but I think that’s just due to me trying to lower my caffeine intake and actually sleep Plans for this weekend include waking up in about 3.5 hours, driving up to the meeting point for volunteers, and working most of the day on the flightline to get stuff handled and set up for the show. Truth hurts, huh I keep wondering where all those changes Ahnold the RINO governator promised to attract and keep jobs have gone? Right down the tubes. The taxes and business environment of labor and business law in the People’s Republic of California have driven many people out of that formerly great state. Now the Democrats are whining about people telling the truth about them and their legislation. Something that many don’t realize about California law is that it’s not just the business legislation that drives people out. Take firearms legislation – no magazines over ten rounds, no cosmetic “assault weapons” and no .50 caliber rifles. Then there’s the cost of insurance. And on top of that there’s now a law on the books that makes sure that anyone who dispariges the idea of same sex marriage (expressing their beliefs under the First Amendment) in a school can be sued. Add to that the climate that there’s no such thing as an illegal alien (I was corrected by a CHP dispatcher – “You mean undocumented immigrants, right?” when I called in several of them walking down the highway in the desert) and the fact that it’s nearly impossible for a white citizen to get government assistance as a single mother while it’s easy for an illegal alien. Remember in the Bond movie Die Another Day when James gets the invisible Aston Martin? Well, this is pretty darn close. By using cameras on one side of a tank and video panels on the other, British scientists have managed to make the tank pretty much disappear – at least from a distance. There’s something that I don’t like about DSL and cable internet – you can’t take them with you. I had Ricochet internet back in San Diego and I could go just about anywhere in the San Diego metro area and get a good 300+ Kbps connection. I miss that. I’d love to go do a nice timelapse of the Las Vegas welcome sign with my camcorder while surfing the web etc. And I’d like to do it just like this

There are times when I really feel like I’m living in some science fiction alternate reality. Growing up during the Cold War, I remember the Iron Curtain, the Berlin Wall, MiGs being secret, exotic aircraft, and the leader of Lybia being U.S. Enemy #1 for supporting terrorists. These days there is no Iron Curtain, sections of the Berlin Wall can be found at CIA Headquarters and as part of a wall in a Las Vegas casino men’s’ room, MiGs are privately owned and flown at airshows for pleasure, and the same leader of Lybia – Muammar Gadhafi is being called an Amercan lap dog by Al Qaeda – an Islamofacist terror organization It’s enough to drive a guy to drink I’ve been there before – so tired that I could just about fall asleep either at the wheel or at work. It ain’t fun. It’s horrible. I’m just glad everyone got down safely and that lessons were learned. Yep, it’s going to be expensive to pull this P-38 out, let alone restore it.
