Talk about temptation Just look at what I found whilst perusing the Impact Guns website From Impact Guns:
Sadly, I don’t have $2400 or this very well might be in transit to my abode as I type Kath, I know I don’t need them – at least not right this moment. But it would be so nice to know that I could reach for them at any time should the need arise. On top of that, they’re not a half bad investment Oh well, at least I can dream, right I’ve seen this posted on several other blogs, but I felt I had to post it myself. We’ve seen nothing particularly negative towards gun rights from the White House, at least yet. We’ve even heard some good when someone openly carried a firearm near a town hall meeting and the White House basically said it was within the guy’s rights to do so. That said, we need to keep on our toes and keep our eyes open. You can bet that the current President is no fan of guns. His history bears this out and I’ll leave it to you to Google that history for yourself. What’s disturbing to other gun bloggers and to myself is the way the White House has worded its explanation of the Second Amendment on the official White House web page. I’ve seen this part posted before, but what I haven’t seen is a comparison of that explanation with the other explanations on the same page. Take a good close look at the differences. You’ll notice that the other explanations (outlined in green) say that the Amendment in question prohibits or otherwise restricts the government. The explanation for the Second Amendment (outlined in red) says that the Amendment GIVES the right to bear arms to the people. But it goes much deeper than that. Ignoring for the moment the absence of the right to keep arms, I find this explanation very troubling. The problem is that as it has been pointed out for decades and actually for centuries now, the Rights in the Bill of Rights are not given by the Amendments to the People. These Rights are natural rights which have been bestowed upon the People by their Creator and are recognized by the Amendments. You see, if these rights are merely given by the Amendments, then they’ve been given by men and therefore can be taken by men. The right to self defense is a basic human right in both my eyes and the eyes of many others. This right is not only that of personal self defense against criminals, but it is also a defense against the government. It defends all the other Rights. To be left defenseless by the Government would be nothing short of a monstrous miscarriage of justice and a very significant step along the way to a possible decision by the People that the time to throw off their government as the Founders did would have arrived. Some people might try to tell you that this is no big deal or that it’s a mistake of some sort. You can be certain that this is no mistake. The White House, like the rest of the Government, is full nearly to bursting with lawyers. They crawl over every statement, every speech, and every word of every web page before it goes online to make sure it’s ready for prime time. They knowingly approved this and you can be sure they knew exactly what it means. Keep your powder dry, folks. Hat tip to Gun Rights 4 Us Today’s been a recovery day mostly. About the only thing I did most of the day was to go to Borders for the third Harry Potter book before going to Sonic for some brunch. After that it was back home for more rest and recovery. I watched a movie and took a nap and that was about it. But I did head out one other time… I forgot my normal camera, so my LG Neon cellphone did camera duty this afternoon instead. It’s not the greatest, but it’s sure better than nothing My afternoon excursion took me to two places – Lee’s Discount Liquor and Taco Bell. Taco Bell was of course chosen as a destination for the dinner part of the day, but I had a good reason for going to Lee’s as well. I’m still mulling over the idea (if you’ll excuse the pun) of starting to make wine, beer, and mead and I wanted to actually try some mead to ensure that I would like the finished product of my labors. I know I can find people to help drink any excess beer I produce (like that’s difficult And indeed, Lee’s had two types of mead. There was the regular mead and there was also blackberry mead. I had a devil of a time deciding, so I just bought both as they really didn’t cost all that much I’m happy to say that yes, I really do like it – a lot 8) I didn’t quite know what to expect, but it didn’t surprise me that much. I’ve heard it described as honey wine and that’s exactly how it tastes The two meads I picked up were from Chaucer Winery in California. They say they use three types of 100% raw honey – clover, alfalfa, and sage – and I think they might just know what they’re doing The two types of liquor in the pictures are there for a reason – they’re a couple of my favorites. No doubt most people have heard of that wonderful liquid known as Jeremiah Weed – 100 Proof bourbon liqueur is good stuff The weather really was great today aside from the wind and I do wish I could have been out doing something which requires hearing protection, but that’s life Have a groovy weekend everyone Yesterday was not exactly the greatest day in recent memory, but I’ve certainly had worse. As you’ve probably read, I wasn’t feeling nearly 100% and I actually left work early and went to the doctor I figured that a good place to go for my prescription would be the Costco pharmacy I’d had the last one filled at. The pictures above were taken on my way from Costco to go get some food for Ziva If you thought I might be going to Exotic Pets, you’d be right Exotic Pets is very close to the North Las Vegas airport, so I’m used to seeing lots of aircraft in the area. This helicopter wasn’t just there for the normal reasons. There was a plane crash about a block away shortly before I got into the area. The aircraft was a home-built plane called a Dragonfly and thankfully there were no major injuries. ![]() 30 October 2009 - Ferret (AKA rubber band on springs with a habit of stealing) resting up for more mischeif Back at Exotic Pets, I managed to get some (I think) decent pictures Anyway, I managed to get some sleep last night and today, so I’m doing somewhat better. It still remains to be seen if I’ll be up to going shooting tomorrow. I’ll probably feel good enough, but there may be wind to deal with – this is Las Vegas in the fall after all. Have a great day everyone I must apologize for the lack of picture posting – I’ve been just a bit under the weather and very tired because of it. This takes time and I can’t do it at work, so there’s times when I might need to sleep rather than posting pics I’ve already taken Thursday I only went one place before heading home from work. I stopped by Wal-Mart in the hopes that they might have a specific type of shotgun ammo, but they didn’t so I settled again. I picked up a box of 10 2.75″ slugs And I managed to take a couple of halfway decent pictures as well What should I find in the parking lot at Wal Mart but a classic Chevy Driving home, I caught this pic of the last light of day over the mountains 8) Yeah, I know – I’m a bit heavy on sunsets. But I like ‘em Have fun When witches go riding and black cats are seen, (H/T Gooseberry Patch and I Can Haz Cheeseburger) Be safe, have fun! If I can at all avoid a doctor’s appointment, I will. I know for a fact that there’s not a whole lot they can do to help with a common virus, so going in for that would pretty much be a waste of money. If I’m in pain I’ll take a couple Tylenol and or a couple Ibuprofin. Well, this sure feels like Strep. Feverish, slightly dizzy, sore throat, swollen glands, etc. So I got permission to call out while I’m on the clock and got a hold of my doctor’s office. I have an appointment for 1450 hours, and permission to leave has been formally granted by my manager. Now all I have to do after the appointment is go get food for Ziva (she just shed yesterday) and go buy some juice and such. Wish me luck I think I may well be sick. No, Kath, this time I don’t mean mentally Symptoms include feeling feverish, sore throat (mild right now), and generally feeling like something Kath’s cat dragged in. So basically not good over all. I am at work right now, but if I don’t feel any better by lunch, I may not return. If the sore throat gets any worse, I think I’ll have to go to the doctor as I’m notoriously susceptible to Strep Oh well, at least I’m still breathing and doing my part to produce CO2, so I guess the situation could be much worse I think I’ll go check into a possible opening with my doctor today… I just had a caller state that he’d come back from vacation and found phone wires strung all over the place. He further stated that his provider (not my employer) had told him to call AT&T. I don’t work for AT&T. He further stated that he could not find AT&T in the phone book, so he called my company which is neither AT&T nor his provider. He knew this when he called, but he thought we would have the consumer number for AT&T. When I told him I couldn’t give him the number because I didn’t have it either, he said that if he couldn’t find the number, he was going to call 911 Of course, I told him I’d advise against that and that I didn’t have the consumer number for AT&T, but that my best advice would be to call his provider back for the AT&T consumer number. And these people are allowed drivers licenses and can VOTE !!! |
