OK, it’s really getting late (or early depending on where you are) and I need some sleep in a big way, but I just ran across this video and thought y’all might want to see it.
Janet is the former governor of Arizona. She’s the current head of the United States Department of Homeland Security. Think about that while you watch this clip.
And here I thought knowing this sort of thing is what we pay her for.
I’m done having my head nearly explode for the night. Now I’m just nauseous.
28 April 2010 - The winds of Spring in Las Vegas stir up some dust
It sure was windy today – reports of 50+ MPH wind in the Las Vegas valley were probably right. Channel 8 news reported that Highway 95 was shut down due to zero visibility and that a light aircraft was flipped over while trying to land at North Las Vegas Airport leaving the pilot with minor injuries. I tried to get some video, but it really didn’t come out good at all, but at least I got one decent picture Wind doesn’t photograph well, so you’ll have to take my word on it when I say you can’t hardly see the mountains due to airborne dust
Boquisucio over at the Castle Argghhh!!! has a great post up about the Army bringing back some of the heavy weapons many had forgotten about.
Last time I saw footage of an 106mm Recoiless Rifle being employed by our forces, was in Beirut 1983. As I understand, the M40A2/A4 was taken out of service shortly thereafter, and tucked into to bed in places like Anniston Army Depot. Well, after a Rip Van Winkle like slumber of 25-years, our old trusted friend has been tapped for a wakey-wakey in our efforts in Afghanistan.
Here’s the video from the post:
I think this is great! Don’t spend billions of dollars on some new gold-plated weapons system when you’ve got stuff that can still do the job that’s already paid for.
I also think I could have some serious fun with one of those… Hmm… It’s gonna be a “destructive device” under the NFA, but that’s just a $200 tax stamp… Of course, I’d have to find ammo and some way to store it in my apartment… But it would be worth it
I’ve heard it said that you should never miss a golden opportunity to keep your mouth shut. It’s also been said that it’s better to be assumed to be a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Some people never learn.
And no, I’m not making this up. Grab the duct tape and make sure you’re head’s well wrapped – you don’t want it to explode.
Opponents of Arizona’s new anti-immigrant law are calling for a boycott of the state’s products – including the popular Arizona Iced Tea.
The problem: Arizona Iced Tea is actually brewed in New York.
Online, misguided tea fans vowed to switch to Lipton or Snapple.
“Dear Arizona: If you don’t change your immigration policy, I will have to stop drinking your enjoyable brand of iced tea,” Twittered Jody Beth in Los Angeles.
Six years after the state Supreme Court dismissed his $433 million lawsuit against the gun industry, Mayor Daley today called for a change of venue — to the World Court normally reserved for disputes between nations and crimes against humanity.
Wrapping up the sixth annual Richard J. Daley Global Cities Forum, Daley convinced more than a dozen of his counterparts from around the world to approve a resolution urging “redress against the gun industry through the courts of the world” in The Hague.
Tam at View From the Porch had a pretty good post about this. The first two sentences are great.
Dick Daley is a venal, corrupt, lying sonofabitch, from a long line of venal, corrupt, lying sonsabitches. What he knows about ethics could be written on the head of a pin, in Sharpie.
My take on the situation? Bad move, Mr. Daley. Very bad move. Lots of people are waking up to the Constitution, what it says, and what it means. You’re just using it for toilet paper here. But it’s nothing we haven’t come to expect from you.
Just so we’re clear: Unable to sustain his assault on freedom through Constitutional means, Daley is not beneath resorting to extra-Constitutional, that is, unlawful ones. Which means if he can secure a globalist ruling against gun manufacturers, the precedent will be established for securing similar rulings against gun owners for his entire diabolical citizen disarmament wish list.
Nuh-uh. That better stop here and now. Because we really don’t want to have to stop it later.
Oh, he can get whatever rulings he wants. But they’ll have no legitimate effect on what we do as citizens and the choices we make in exercising our rights. And any attempts to enforce such edicts against us can be regarded as an unlawful initiation of force, to be repelled and responded to accordingly.
That seems a pretty dangerous and irresponsible thing to do to people who want to be left alone. It seems like something only a madman would do.
Of course, things don’t have to go that far. We as gun owners have been sitting here taking it from this egotistical little hypocrite for far too long. And while all he knows and understands is coercion backed by force of state arms—you know, that monopoly of violence Josh Horwitz praises while citing Nazi-enabler Max Weber—we peaceable armed citizens have a devastatingly powerful weapon at our disposal: voluntary association.
She says they’ve got shovels and pickaxes. Don’t believe me?
I can’t change her mind. But I’d offer this person a warning – be careful what you wish for. I personally don’t want violence, but I will use force to defend myself and others. And our tools are more effective.
