For Glenn

My first thought when I saw this was HOLY $*&# !!!  I don’t know how often this happens, but I’m glad I wasn’t in the “splash zone” when this incident occured

Dangerous Vacillation, Indecision, And Secrecy From The BATFE

I found this over on Sipsey Street where nothing about the BATFE escapes Mike Vanderboegh’s view.  It’s just a snippet and I highly recommend reading the whole darn thing.
To all retail customers:
On January 2010 American Tactical Imports Inc received official notification from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and explosives that the original barrel shroud [...]

Sad news

This morning I heard on the FoxNews. Phil Harris, Skipper of the F/V Cornelia Marie of Deadliest Catch fame, has passed as the result of a massive stroke several days ago. The stroke occurred as the ship was unloading at St.Paul Island in the Bering Sea.
Tough guy, good dad and fine man all around. He [...]

Now, that HURT!!! Warning – No Pics, But Graphic Description Inside

Out of sympathy for Kath (and the difficulty of getting a decent photo), I’ll spare y’all the sight of my latest injury.  But let’s just say that it HURT!!!  More below the fold…

Guaranteed Overtime – Mudslides in SoCal

I’ve gotta be honest here.  I’m happy to have the money, but I’m unbelievably glad I’ve got a three day weekend.
From Fox News:

Hundreds Ordered to Evacuate in California Mudslides
AP
Fire officials say at least 41 homes have been damaged and 500 more ordered evacuated after a pounding winter storm triggered mudslides in wildfire burn areas north [...]

Atlas Shrugs Shining A Light – Government Injecting Politics Into Public Schools

We all start to let our guard down from time to time.  We become complacent.  It’s human nature.
I admit that I’ve been this way in the past, especially regarding politicians.  I was naïve in my hopes that our current President and his merry band of misbehaving delinquents would have learned from the outrage over the [...]

MAJOR VOICE AND DATA OUTAGE IN SO-CAL

I don’t know what the cause of the trouble is, but something like 28 T3 circuits are down hard.  It happened rather suddenly.
A T3 circuit is 28 T1 circuits.  A T1 circuit is 24 phone lines.  These aren’t directly feeding customers – they’re the links over the network that makes up a city’s information infrastructure.
More [...]

Say what you will. Think what you will. It does quite alot on it’s own, dontcha think?

They Say It Never Rains in Southern California…

It’s that bad.  I’ve never seen it this bad since I started working in telecommunications repair.  We have about five times the normal work load.  And I think it might just get worse.
To wit:
Now consider that most of our customers are in California and remember that telecommunications equipment does not like water.
Here’s hoping California doesn’t [...]

Am I the Only One Who Knows This Music These Days???

I sometimes feel I’m getting a bit old, but maybe I was just raised old fashioned.  I’ve talked with several people around the office about music and I’ve been shocked that most had never heard of the groups and performers I grew up watching at the Wild Animal Park during the summer concerts.
So, who knows [...]
